Do chalazions ever go away?
Do chalazions ever go away?
Most chalazia go away on their own within a month or so without medical treatment. To facilitate this healing, try applying a warm compress four to six times each day. This can be a clean washcloth soaked in hot water—but not so hot as to be painful to the touch.
What causes chalazion eye?
The chalazion is caused by a blockage in one of the tiny meibomian glands of the upper and lower eyelids. The oil these glands produce helps to moisten the eyes. Inflammation or viruses affecting the meibomian glands are the underlying causes of chalazia.
How long do chalazions last?
A chalazion often goes away by itself within a month or so. To help it go, put a clean, warm compress on your eyelid four to six times a day, for about 10 minutes at a time. Also, gently massage the lump with clean hands, for several minutes each day.
