Did Superman kill General Zod?

Before Man of Steel came out, some fans assumed that the iconic villain General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, would go on to be a franchise mainstay, terrorizing Superman ( Henry Cavill ) for years to come in subsequent sequels. As it turns out, he was killed by Superman himself, breaking his legendary "no-kill" maxim by snapping the villain's neck.

In Smallville, we meet Doomsday's human form, Davis Bloome, for the first time. He is a Metropolis paramedic who frequently experiences blackouts, during which he transforms into Doomsday. This Doomsday was created by General Zod and Faora . He was a combination of Kryptonian Monsters only found on Krypton.

Doomsday is the Kryptonian side of Davis Bloome and the child of Zod and Faora and the nephew of Vala. His destiny was to kill the son of Jor-El. He is Zod's creation, using his blood, Faora's blood, as well as that of all of the monsters that lived on Krypton.
