In single player, only the game engine map sector you are in is active. All the other areas are in stasis. (your computer couldn't handle being both a server and a client with all sectors active) So, unless you are in the area, resource respawn is kind of problematic.

Basically there are 2 cooldown timers for resource nodes in the game. Timer 1 Node respawn = Global fixed 4hr deleted node respawn. In single player due to hibernation if you leave an area where the nodes have not already respawned AND you EXIT the game, those nodes will delete themselves.
