As Corey says, you'll have to remove more slag than with shielding gas, but it's not a big problem. FWIW, I use a flux core quite often, because I almost always weld outdoors, where the slightest breeze will blow shielding gas away from the work. I still get burn throughs occasionally, but I've learned how to deal with them.
